What happens to our bodies under stress?

Stress and anxiety mainly occur when we believe we can’t cope with the problem we perceive as stressful.
When we see this problem as overwhelming and feel we have no way of escaping or solving it, we experience anxiety or stress.
However, we don’t all see the same events as stressful. We have different perceptions of what is stressful, we have different levels of confidence in dealing with it and different ways of coping with it. There is therefore no one solution, but in general, it is the feeling of being out of control that makes us anxious and stressed.

Getting to know ourselves and the way we respond to situations when they occur can make the difference. Once aware we can use tools that support us. It can be as simple as pausing and breathing in the moment, giving yourself to choose a different response.
