My Teaching Style

My teaching style is to be your guide through the sessions. I am not here to judge you or tell you how to feel. My goal is to provide you new and effective tools that you can use that will enable you to reflect on your experience with grief and reduce the emotional response that is keeping you from recovering. You will need to have access to the Grief Recovery Handbook in order to complete the homework. You can purchase the The Grief Recovery Handbook, 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition on Amazon and this is the only small investment you will need to make towards changing your life.

What can you expect from my sessions?
The sessions are comprised of 7 weeks where you will meet online with me for approximately 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours, once every week. This is an educational method with therapeutic benefits where you will be provided with homework assignments and reading that shouldn’t take you more than an two hours to complete each week. Therefore, you and I will in fact be creating your own personal toolkit that you can use for any and all loses that may come up.

Why me?
What I know is that I have never had someone go through the grief recovery work and heard someone say, “I wish I wouldn’t have done that”. Even I can personally say, that my own experience in going through the work transformed me to a healthier version of myself. So, if you are worried, I know that you will give it your heart and if you let me support you; there is no doubt that you too will leave this work different than what you were when you started.

Why I’m passionate about this?

I am passionate about grief recovery because I was like most people who thought that grief was only related to someone who dies or if you get a divorce but actually grief can come from over 43 different losses. Some examples include retirement, moving, pet loss, financial change, loss of health, empty nest, end of a romantic relationship, loss of faith, loss of trust, legal problems, etc. Of course we also can not overlook the impact that the pandemic has made on everyone’s lives and I suggest this is certainly a tremendous loss in many ways to what we use to consider “the norm”. Often times you may go to a therapist, be mislabeled as depressed or having symptoms of PTSD, and placed on antidepressants which will in turn hinder you from working on the actual problem of having a broken heart. I was also suffering from grief due to a romantic breakup that felt like it nearly stopped me in my tracks. If it wasn’t for me having a big heart and trying to help fix my ex instead of myself, I would have never came across this program. I took it upon myself to go through the work which was challenging but I learned how to come out of it with more knowledge about how to complete the grief I was suffering with so I can apply those some tools to anything I may face in the future related to loss.

Is there support in-between sessions?

I can also offer 1 or 2 check-ins a week to keep you motivated when you start to feel overwhelmed by using Voxer and Marco Polo.
