Banking, Finance and Economics

Banking, Finance & Economics may sound unexciting to many. In 2021 they are about to get a little more exciting. Indeed maybe too exciting!

My name is Ryan McGowan, my university students call me Professor, although I prefer Ryan. I have been working as a Lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Vienna for over 5 years. All my students are working in Banking and Finance related fields. So they are very motivated indeed.

Before that I was a licenced financial advisor in the UK and Ireland. Thus, I have financial advisor licences from the UK (BoE) and Ireland (ECB-CBI). My last role was in Lloyd’s Banking group before I left in 2014, I foresaw Brexit turning out the way it has, causing huge disruption to UK - EU finance.

Recently, I have been working with Ireland’s most prolific and well known & fellow financial advisor Eddie Hobbs to write deep dive, searching articles in away that highlights the machinations of the global financial system in clear cut way. Previously, few had the technical knowledge to understand . This must change, next crisis is the last!

Zombie Financial System

While I get a high level of remuneration at University of over €100 per hour. Via Talktime I wanted to offer an affordable opportunity to help people, many of whom are unprepared for the challenges that lie ahead. These challenges are widely publicised, but only in journals / publications few get to read.

Therefore, if you sign up for Top 10 Tutorials online it will cost €400. Also you will get all the material that my University Students have at no extra cost and you contact me in future.

This really is a great way to prepare for a degree in this specialised and highly paid area, learn about the risks / opportunities in the banking sector from personal finance perspective, or to prepare for employment in the banking and finance sector. Maybe you just want to understand Bloomberg!

All students who complete my Top Ten Tutorials and pass the final Test, will get a reference letter from me too!

So, before any of the users on here go any further, why don’t make use of the AMA (Ask Me Anything) option and see if I can help with any of your general queries for free. No obligations.

** Fun Facts about me**
I am half Irish and half British (distant cousin of QE2), my mum says the good half is Irish. Irish men are all mummy’s bhoys!

I can you talk about history, political risk, global trade/economics and Bank regulations for hours?

My favorite smell?
freshly cooked bacon!

What are you proud of, but never have an excuse to talk about?

*Traveling across half of the USA, most of Europe and all of South Africa (where I cage dived with great white sharks) *

The one super power I would NOT want?

Flight, Ryanair can get you there

What is the most normal thing about you?

I Love Irish and English Breakfast Tea - Love it!

What do you hate?

People allergic to reality

Anything else that you’d like to share?

Someone who doesn’t make mistakes doesn’t make anything and there are no mistakes in learning. In my tutorials the more ‘mistakes’ the better, its the only way to really learn new skills.

My teaching style

Active tutoring, relaxed and nonjudgemental.

What can you expect from my lessons?

Hopefully, you realise that many things you once suspected were true and you gain a deeper understanding of them. You will acquire new skills that can help protect you and your loved ones economic security, financial health and future.

Why me?

Why not! If your not interested by now you never will be to be honest. But that is absolutely fine.

Why I’m passionate about this?

Everyone has a life plan, but not everything goes to plan. 2020 a year so unique they named it twice.

In 2010, the bank I worked for went bust during my lunch break. I came back from a bowl of soup to find desert was unemployment! I then had to overcome challenges no one taught me about at school, university or as member of the Institute of Banking Ireland. But, I not only survived, I thrived.

The greatest skill you can acquire in my experience is to learn how to read the signals in markets and politics. Then plan your life choices accordingly. The most important skill is having the self belief to make decisions based on our knowledge and do it!

What else I can do?

Almost anything I put my mind too, like most of my students. You are a lot better at most things than you think. Best thing for me is when you realise it.

I am Irish so I can quote the greatest poetry in the world, of course written by a great Irishman,

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

“Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not.”

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

“A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.”

Slainte-Prost,

Ryan
